A colleague in our LifeStar Network provides an insight assessment of the recent film, Fifty Shades of Grey.
What is at work in our world that first distorts and then celebrates trauma bonds?
A trauma bond is a dysregulated orientation to intimacy. It is a human bond in which the attachment is the result of pain.
It forms when experiences of intimacy (something good) are joined to experiences of verbal, emotional, or physical violence and fear (something very bad).
When my understanding of an intimate relationship involves someone getting hurt, something is very wrong indeed.
